Team Leaders
A Team Leader is the most senior member of an ABA therapy team in our agency. As a Team Leader you act as a liaison between the family, other therapists and Behavioural Consultant to ensure that each client’s intervention program is being implemented as it has been designed. Team Leaders have a diversity of responsibilities that reflect and utilize their superior therapy skills in addition to providing direct therapy to the children they work with.
Core Responsibilities:
- Providing regular, ABA therapy sessions to clients on teams where you are designated the Team Leader.
- Assisting new families to set up the therapy environment prior to starting a treatment plan and ensuring the environment is maintained during the course of therapy.
- Trialling newly designed treatment plans and probing for existing skill sets with clients prior to formal teaching as per the direction of the programs behavioural consultant.
- Overlapping with less experienced therapists when they are beginning with a new client or joining an existing team to ensure that they are ready to work independently.
- Attend and participate in team meetings.
- Ensuring that program changes discussed and approved by the child’s Behavioural Consultant in team meetings are implemented in a timely manner.
- Monitoring the day to day implementation of the treatment plan and appropriately addressing any concerns that may have a negative impact on the child’s progress.
- Evaluating therapists’ therapy skills and providing feedback to them based on their performance.
- Providing additional training to families if required.
- Contributing to the biannual progress reports of clients.
- Providing coverage where possible for other therapists who are unable to make their sessions.
Essential Requirements:
- Own car and valid driver’s licence.
- A minimum of 15 hours availability per week (Monday-Friday) during business hours.
- At least 12 months active experience in an ABA therapist role.
- At a minimum, undertaking or completing some form of tertiary qualifications in a related field, e.g., psychology, social science, speech pathology or occupational therapy, disability, child-care and applied behaviour analysis.
- A comprehensive understanding of introductory level Applied Behaviour Analysis theory.
- An enthusiastic and energetic personality.
- Reliable, disciplined and conscientious attitude.
- A demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with other professionals and agencies.
- Proven time management skills.
